That is aquatic weed, and it needs a \u003ca href=\"\/collections\/weed-maintenance\"\u003eweed rake or aquatic weed cutter\u003c\/a\u003e, not an algaecide.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eHow to treat without killing your fish\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe most common mistake in pond algae treatment is dosing the whole pond at once. Decaying algae consumes oxygen as it breaks down, and a large kill-off in warm water can drop dissolved oxygen far enough to suffocate fish. Treat no more than one third to one half of the pond at a time, wait 10 to 14 days between treatments, and run aeration throughout.
