How you attach it is the first decision - dock, float or your own hardware. Horsepower and voltage follow from the site.
Bolts to a dock, seawall or piling and lets you aim the flow where the problem is. The most common choice on marinas and residential waterfronts, because the unit stays put and stays reachable for service.
Floats in open water and drives flow horizontally across the surface. Use it where there is nothing solid to mount to, or where you need to push debris and duckweed away from a shoreline.
The motor unit on its own, for when you already have a mount, a float or a de-icer bracket in place and only need the circulator itself. Confirm your existing hardware fits before ordering.
Aiming matters more than horsepower
A circulator solves a directional problem, so where you point it decides whether it works. Send us a photo of the dock or the corner you are trying to clear and we will tell you the mount, the size and the angle.
A Circulator Pushes Water Sideways. That Is the Whole Idea.
A fountain throws water upward and an aerator agitates the surface. A circulator does neither - it drives a horizontal current across the water, and that current is what does the work. Point it at a corner where debris collects and the debris leaves. Point it along a dock face and the slip stays clear. Point it into a stagnant back bay and the water starts moving again.
Because the job is directional, mount type is the first decision rather than an afterthought. Direction. An aerator agitates the surface to drive oxygen exchange. A circulator pushes a horizontal current across the water to move things - debris, duckweed, silt, stagnant water - from one place to another.
If your problem is oxygen, look at surface aerators or diffused aeration. If your problem is that something keeps collecting in one spot, you want a circulator.

240V. A 3400HC is the same 3/4 HP as a 3400C - the H indicates the supply voltage, not a heavier-duty build. The same applies to the 4400C and 4400HC at 1 HP.
Kasco uses this convention across aerators, de-icers and circulators alike. Check the supply at your dock before ordering.

It is a genuine consideration, because the shorelines that need a circulator are usually the weedy, silty, slow-moving ones. It is not a licence to run it into heavy debris indefinitely, but it will tolerate far more than a standard prop.

A control panel adds proper disconnect and overload protection plus timer and thermostat options, so budget for one separately. Electrical work should be completed by a licensed electrician to local code.
