See your fountain on your pond before you buy.
Set your pond's size and depth, then pick a motor and spray pattern. We draw Kasco's published spray to scale on your water, flag anything that will not fit, and match it to the fountain, cord and lights.
Your starting setup
Lights · one kit per fountain, cord matched
Tell us your pond in the cart notes and a Kasco-trained tech will double-check the size, cord and panel before it ships.
Compare motor sizes
Odd-shaped pond? Several fountains? Long cord run?
Text us a photo or a satellite screenshot of your pond and a Kasco-trained tech will mark where each fountain should float, and which cord and panel to order, free.
Where the numbers come from
Every spray on this page is Kasco Marine's published height and width for that motor and nozzle. Kasco measures them in calm conditions; long cord runs and low voltage can make a pattern a little smaller.
Leave room for the wind
Our rule of thumb: keep at least the pattern's height in clear water between the spray and the shore, more if the wind blows toward a patio, dock or path. The dotted ring on the plan shows that zone.
Deep or weedy pond?
A fountain works the top few feet of water. If your pond is deeper than about 8 ft or fights algae every summer, pair it with bottom diffused aeration and let the fountain be the show.

What size fountain do I need for my pond?
For a decorative fountain, size the display to the water: a pattern roughly a quarter as wide as the pond reads well from shore without soaking the bank. On a pond about 125 ft across, that is a 1 HP Kasco 4400JF (Linden pattern 31 ft wide). For aeration, Kasco rates its VFX units by pond area: about ¼ acre for ½ HP, ⅓ acre for ¾ HP, ½ acre for 1 HP, 1 acre for 2 HP and 2½ acres for 5 HP.
J Series or VFX, which one?
Choose the J Series when the display is the point: five interchangeable nozzles ship in the box, from tall columns to wide tiered crowns. Choose the VFX when water quality comes first: its single V pattern moves more water per horsepower for oxygen and circulation, and still looks like a fountain from the deck.
How deep does the water need to be?
Not very. Kasco lists 17.5 in. for the ¾ HP units, 19 in. for 1 HP and 20 in. for 2 HP; plan on 28 in. or more for 3 HP and up. Measure where the float will sit, not the deepest point, because the intake is right under the float.
Do I need 120V or 240V?
The ½, ¾ and 1 HP units run on a standard 120V GFCI outlet. ¾ and 1 HP also come in 208–240V versions that draw about half the amps, handy on long cord runs. 2 HP and up need 208–240V, and the 7.5 HP J Series is three-phase only.
How long a power cord should I order?
Measure from where the control panel will mount to where the fountain will float, add the water depth, and round up to the next cord size. Order your light kit with the same cord length so both reach the panel.
Can I change the spray pattern later?
Yes. Every J Series fountain includes five twist-and-lock nozzles, and Kasco's premium nozzles (Mighty Oak, Mahogany, Madrone, Magnolia and more) fit the same units. The VFX has one V pattern built for aeration.
