Light kits mount to the fountain itself and are matched to the model, so start with the brand of fountain you own. Kits are sold by fixture count - confirm your control panel can carry the additional load before ordering.

Lighting Turns a Daytime Feature Into an Evening One
An unlit fountain stops existing at dusk. That is the whole argument for lighting, and on a property where the water is the focal point - a clubhouse approach, a condo courtyard, a cottage shoreline - the fountain is dark for exactly the hours people are most likely to be looking at it.
The practical constraint is that kits are built for specific fountains. Fixtures mount to the unit itself, so a Kasco kit does not fit an Aqua Control fountain and vice versa. Start from the brand and model you own, then choose the fixture count: coverage across a wide spray pattern comes from more fixtures placed around it rather than fewer brighter ones.
The second constraint is electrical. Lighting adds load, so your existing control panel needs to carry it, and a panel with a photocell will switch the lights at dusk without anyone walking down to the water. Commercial and architectural installations work differently again - those are specified fixture by fixture rather than as a matched kit.

A fountain kit is matched to a specific floating fountain and mounts to it. Commercial fixtures are specified individually for architectural water features, structural nozzle displays and municipal installations.
If you are lighting a built water feature rather than a floating unit, the commercial fixtures are what you want.

That depends on whether the fountain does. If the unit comes out before freeze-up, the lighting comes out with it.
Where a fountain runs through winter or is replaced by a de-icer, we will advise on the lighting separately. Ask us before freeze-up rather than after.
