Choosing the Right Floating Fountain

Fountain Depot stocks floating fountains from 1/2 HP to 5 HP across three lines: Kasco J-Series decorative fountains (3400JF, 4400JF, 8400JF, 3.1JF and 5.1JF - five interchangeable nozzles included with every unit), Kasco VFX aerating fountains with the classic V-pattern for maximum oxygen transfer, and premium display fountains from Aqua Control (Evolution Series and Select Series) and AquaMaster (Masters Series, including the Crown and Geyser lake fountain).

As a rule of thumb, 1/2 HP suits ponds up to about 1/4 acre, 3/4-1 HP covers 1/4 to 1 acre, and 2-5 HP units are built for larger ponds and lakes. J-Series fountains operate in as little as 17.5 inches of water. Choose 120V for shorter cord runs to a standard outlet; 240V models draw fewer amps and support longer cable distances from the electrical panel to the pond.

If display is the priority, choose a multi-pattern J-Series. If oxygen is the goal, a VFX moves more water per horsepower. Ponds deeper than about 8 feet get the best results by pairing a fountain with a RobustAire diffused aeration system.

Complete the installation with Kasco LED light kits or Aqua Control LED fountain lights, and a Kasco control panel with timer, photocell and GFCI protection. Every fountain ships across Canada from our Markham, Ontario location - Fountain Depot is an authorized Kasco dealer and repair centre, so the unit you buy is the unit we can service. Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the right size floating fountain?
Match horsepower to pond size: 1/2 HP for ponds up to about 1/4 acre, 3/4-1 HP for 1/4 to 1 acre, and 2-5 HP for larger lakes. Spray height should reach roughly half the pond's width to look proportional. When in doubt, email us your pond dimensions and we'll recommend.
What voltage do I need - 120V or 240V?
120V models plug into standard household outlets and suit shorter cord runs (up to about 100 ft). 240V models draw fewer amps and support longer cable distances from the electrical panel to the water - typically the better choice if your panel is far from the pond. Three-phase models are for commercial sites with three-phase electrical service.
Do floating fountains actually aerate the water?
Yes - all floating fountains move surface water and improve oxygen levels. Decorative multi-pattern fountains (like the Kasco J-Series) prioritize display, while V-pattern aerating fountains (VFX series) move more water per horsepower for maximum oxygen transfer. For deep ponds, pair a fountain with a diffused aeration system to reach the bottom layer.
How long does shipping take?
Orders ship across Canada from stock. Delivery typically takes 3 to 5 business days depending on your province.
What is the return policy?
Uninstalled units qualify for return within the applicable return period. Contact us at Info@fountaindepot.com to arrange a return.
