Impeller assemblies are model-specific - 9.5A, 9.5B, 12A, 12B, 18B, 36B and MD24/PM24 are all different parts.

The model is stamped on the pump housing. Send it to us if you are unsure; an impeller that nearly fits will destroy the pump.

Usually, or the pre-filter. Impellers wear, chip and pick up debris, and a worn one loses head pressure before it stops turning altogether.

Check the pre-filter and intake first since that is free, then the impeller. If both are clear and flow is still down, the motor may be failing.

Through the season, whenever flow drops noticeably. On a leafy or stocked pond that can be fortnightly; on a clean feature, a few times a year.

Running a pump against a blocked filter shortens its life - the motor works harder against restricted flow.
