Usually, and more importantly it removes the guesswork. A kit arrives with the liner, pump, filtration and plumbing already matched to each other, so you are not sizing a pump against a skimmer you have not bought yet.
Buying separately makes sense when you are extending an existing pond or have components you want to keep. Tell us what you already have and we will tell you which route is better value.
A waterfall and stream with no open pond at the bottom - the water disappears into a gravel-filled basin and recirculates. You get the sound and movement of running water without standing water.
It suits properties with small children, and it needs less maintenance than a stocked pond because there is no fish load and no exposed surface collecting debris.
Length plus twice the depth, then add two feet for overlap. Same calculation for width. Aquascape's 45 mil EPDM is sold by the roll and cut to size.
Send us your dimensions and we will work out the sheet you need - it is cheaper to get this right than to seam two pieces together.
They do different jobs. A skimmer pulls debris off the surface before it sinks and houses the pump. A BioFalls is the biological filter and the head of the waterfall.
On a stocked pond you generally want both - the skimmer keeps the water clean mechanically, the BioFalls keeps it healthy biologically. On a small ornamental feature a pressurised filter may be enough on its own.
Yes, with the right shutdown. Most Ontario ponds either run through with a de-icer or aerator keeping a hole open, or shut down completely with the pump removed and stored above freezing.
What you should not do is leave a pump running in a pond that freezes solid around it. Ask us before your first freeze-up - the approach depends on depth and whether you have fish.
Yes. Aquascape's LED spotlights and waterfall lights are low voltage and designed to be added to a pond or waterfall already built.
They run off a transformer rather than mains, so they are far simpler to retrofit than fountain lighting. Tell us the feature and we will suggest the fixture count.
