QUICK OVERVIEW

Aqua Control Select Series 2 Aerator (230V/1P) – Tornado is a high-output display aerator that produces a high-energy, twisting vertical column of aerated water while moving large volumes of water for circulation and oxygen transfer. The strongly vertical footprint keeps spray inside a tight radius, useful where wind drift onto walkways, greens, or docks is a concern. Built on the Select Series 2 platform — Aqua Control's highest-pumping-rate aerator line — it improves pond health while delivering a striking display.

Key Specifications

  • Motor: 1, 2, 3, or 5 HP, 230V single-phase (10 / 13 / 17 / 28 amps respectively, per Aqua Control's 60Hz motor chart)
  • Pumping rate: 250–500 GPM depending on HP — display aerators move far more water than a standard decorative fountain
  • Construction: high-strength composite pump components with lightweight propellers that reduce motor stress, plus an easy-clean composite suction screen
  • Configurations: vertical (32–44 in minimum depth), or horizontal for shallow water (operates in as little as 28 in)
  • Includes: motor unit, float, suction screen, quick disconnect, and control panel with a circuit for one light set
  • Cord length: 100 ft or 200 ft underwater-rated power cable
  • Warranty: 3-year manufacturer's warranty
  • Made in the USA by Aqua Control, Inc.

Tornado spray performance by horsepower

HP Spray height Spray diameter Output Min. depth (vertical)
1 HP 7 ft 20 ft 250 GPM 32 in
2 HP 9 ft 25 ft 350 GPM 44 in
3 HP 12 ft 30 ft 450 GPM 44 in
5 HP 15 ft 35 ft 500 GPM 44 in

All horizontal-configuration models operate in a minimum of 28 inches of water — the right choice for shallow retention and stormwater ponds. Performance figures are from Aqua Control’s official 60Hz specification chart.

Which pond is it right for?

The Select Series 2 platform suits ponds of roughly a quarter acre and up. Choose 1 HP for smaller residential ponds, 2–3 HP for typical HOA, golf course, or farm ponds up to about an acre, and 5 HP where you want maximum presence and mixing on larger water. If your pond is under a quarter acre, the compact Aqua Control Evolution Series is a better fit; if you want a taller, more defined decorative display rather than maximum water movement, look at the Select Series fountains. Not sure which model fits your pond? Email Info@fountaindepot.com with your pond's size, depth, and distance to power — our recommendations are backed by 50+ years of fountain installation and service experience.

Complete the installation

Add Aqua Control 30W or 80W stainless steel LED light sets to run the Tornado after dark — the included control panel already has a circuit for one light set. Browse the full Select Series 2 aerator lineup to compare all patterns.

Frequently asked questions

What does the Tornado pattern look like?
The Tornado produces a high-energy, twisting vertical column of aerated water. The strongly vertical footprint keeps spray inside a tight radius, useful where wind drift onto walkways, greens, or docks is a concern.

Should the fountain be removed for a Canadian winter?
Yes. Floating fountains should be removed before freeze-up and stored for the winter; if you need to keep water open around docks or equipment, a dedicated de-icer is the right tool for that job.

Does a display aerator actually improve water quality?
Yes. Select Series 2 units are engineered for high pumping rates, moving far more water than a comparable decorative fountain — the added oxygen transfer and circulation help limit algae and stagnation.

Which horsepower should I choose for my pond?
As a rule of thumb, 1 HP suits smaller residential ponds, 2–3 HP suits typical HOA, golf, or farm ponds up to about an acre, and 5 HP suits larger water where maximum presence and mixing are wanted. Email Info@fountaindepot.com with your pond size, depth, and distance to power for a specific recommendation.

Aqua Control Select Series 2 Display Aerators use axial-flow pumps designed to move large volumes of water at moderate pressure, giving these patterns both decorative impact and strong aeration performance. 230V single-phase and 230V three-phase options are available across the published horsepower range.
Manufacturer naming note: Aqua Control’s current published Select Series 2 materials verify patterns such as Delmar, Double Arch, Spider & Arch, Super Lily, Trillium, Triple Tier, Weeping Willow, Quad, Scepter, Cluster Arch, Crown Gusher, Daffodil, and Tornado. I did not add 460V specs, per your request. I also did not add separate rows for “Ventilator” or “Falling Water Lily” because I could not verify those exact names in Aqua Control’s current published manufacturer materials.
