Display-first floating fountains. Tall, wide, contiguous spray patterns built to be looked at, with surface circulation as a genuine secondary benefit. Choose a brand below, then match horsepower and voltage to your surface acreage and depth.

Aeration-first floating units. These trade some display height for greater water movement and oxygen transfer, and are the right call when water quality is the reason you are buying rather than the view.

A control panel protects the motor and automates the display. Timers set run hours, thermostats guard against ice damage, and photocells switch lighting at dusk. Panels are matched to horsepower and to single or three-phase supply.

LED kits mount to the fountain and turn the spray pattern into an evening feature. Kits are sold by fixture count and matched to the fountain model, so confirm compatibility before ordering or ask our techs.

Decorative Display or Real Aeration? Choose on the Water, Not the Look

Every floating fountain moves water, but they are not built to the same purpose. A decorative unit is engineered around the spray pattern - tall, wide, contiguous streams meant to be looked at, with surface circulation as a genuine but secondary benefit. An aerating unit trades display height for volume, pushing far more water through the surface layer and driving oxygen exchange where it matters.

Neither one turns over a deep water column on its own. A surface fountain works the top few feet; below that, water can still stratify and go anoxic through a hot Ontario August. If water quality is the reason you are buying, pair the fountain with bottom-diffused aeration rather than expecting the display to do both jobs.

The mistake we correct most often is undersizing. Pond acreage, average depth, shape and the distance to your power source all change the answer, and the difference between the right model and the one that looked right online is usually a season of disappointing performance. Send us those four numbers before you order.

  • Sized on surface acreage and depth

Not on how the spray looks in a photo. A pattern that fills a half-acre pond disappears on five acres.

  • Voltage and phase confirmed before shipping

Single-phase or three-phase is the most common ordering mistake on this category. We check it with you first.

  • Cord length specced to your power source

Measured from the unit to the panel, not guessed. Short cords are the second most common return.

  • Control panel matched to horsepower

The panel and the fountain have to be specified together. We quote them as a pair.

  • Serviced in Canada, not shipped south

I highly recommend the Fountain Depot. Ryan and his team are incredibly knowledgeable and timely. We sought a floating fountain and underwater lights for our client, and Ryan delivered precisely what our client was desiring. The Fountain Place continues to maintain the fountain, and we have had zero issues.

Ryan and the team are truly exceptional - they really know their products and match that knowledge with amazing service. We have referred them to multiple friends for residential installations, and they have all shared the same positive experience as we have. Even when we had some repair issues, Ryan was quick to find a solution and get our fountain back to us in perfect condition.

Buying guide

Questions our techs answer every week

Fountains, control panels, lights and parts all have to be specified together. Here is what we get asked most before an order goes out.

How do I size a floating fountain for my pond or lake? Do I need single-phase or three-phase power? Do floating fountains actually aerate, or do they just look good? What is the difference between Aqua Control's Select Series and Select Series 2? Do I need a control panel, and what does it actually do? Can I add lights to a fountain I already own? Is it worth repairing a fountain, or should I replace it? Do you ship across Canada, and can you service what you sell?
  • Size on surface acreage and average depth first, then choose the display. A fountain that looks right on a half-acre pond disappears on five acres, and undersizing is the single most common mistake we see.

Send us your surface area, average depth and the distance from your power source, and our techs will spec horsepower, voltage, cord length and spray pattern before you order.

How do I size a floating fountain for my pond or lake?
  • This is the most common ordering mistake on floating fountains. Residential and most rural sites are single-phase; commercial properties, golf courses and municipal sites are often three-phase. The fountain, the control panel and the cord all have to match your supply.

Check the panel at your power source, or send us a photo of it. Ordering a three-phase unit for a single-phase site means a return shipment and a lost season.

    Do I need single-phase or three-phase power?
  • They do both, but the balance shifts by model. A decorative fountain moves surface water and drives oxygen exchange at the top of the water column. An aerating fountain trades some display height for greater water movement.

In deep or stratified water, a bottom-diffused aeration system will turn over more of the column than any surface unit. On larger Canadian ponds the two are often run together.

Do floating fountains actually aerate, or do they just look good?
  • Select Series is the display line - built around large, contiguous spray patterns where the fountain is a visual feature. Select Series 2 is the aerating line, trading some pattern height for greater water movement and oxygen transfer.

Both are available in single-phase and three-phase. If the fountain is going in for looks, start with Select Series; if it is going in because the water has a problem, start with Select Series 2.

What is the difference between Aqua Control's Select Series and Select Series 2?
  • A control panel protects the motor and automates the display. It provides proper disconnect and overload protection, timers so the fountain runs only when it is being seen, and photocell control for lighting.

Panels are matched to the fountain's horsepower and to single or three-phase supply, so the panel and fountain need to be specified together. Electrical work should be completed by a licensed electrician to local code.

Do I need a control panel, and what does it actually do?
  • Usually yes, provided the kit is matched to your fountain model. Light kits are sold by fixture count and mount to the fountain itself, so compatibility depends on the model plus your existing cord and panel setup.

Send us your model and serial number and we will confirm which kit fits and whether your control panel can carry the additional load.

Can I add lights to a fountain I already own?
  • More often than people expect, repair is the better call. Most failures are a rebuildable part - seals, propellers, floats, o-rings or cord hardware - rather than a write-off of the whole unit.

We run a certified repair centre in Markham with factory-trained bench techs, so the unit stays in Canada instead of shipping south. Send us the model number and a description of the fault and we will tell you honestly whether a rebuild makes sense.

Is it worth repairing a fountain, or should I replace it?
  • Yes to both. We ship fountains, control panels, lighting kits and replacement parts across Canada, with most orders leaving the warehouse in one to two business days.

As an authorized dealer we honour full manufacturer warranty, and because we operate our own repair centre you are not shipping a warranty claim across the border.
